In short
If you are short on time, this is the picture:
- The application installed on your computer collects and transmits nothing. It has no accounts, no usage statistics and no internet connection, not even to check the licence.
- This website uses no cookies and has no profiling or tracking tools. It only counts visits, anonymously: date, page and language, with no IP address. That is why you see no banner: there is nothing to accept.
- The purchase is handled by Freemius, which sells in its own name and is the controller of the payment data. The author never sees your card details.
- Of your purchase we keep the email address, because it is needed to send you the licence and to reissue it if you lose it.

The Monitile application
Monitile runs entirely on your computer. The sessions you save — open programs,
monitors, window positions and titles — stay in a local folder
(%LOCALAPPDATA%\Monitile) and are never transmitted.
There are no accounts, installation identifiers, usage statistics or automatic error reports. Even the Pro licence check happens locally, without contacting any server: the application behaves identically on a computer disconnected from the network.
As a result, using the application involves no processing of personal data by the controller. The data described below concern only the website, the purchase and support.
Visiting the website
The website consists of static pages. It uses no cookies, no equivalent technologies that store data on your device, and no profiling tools or third-party analytics.
To know how many people visit the website, the main pages contain an invisible image served by our own server. Each visit adds only the date and time, the page and the language to a log. No IP address, browser type or other data that could identify you is stored. Your browser keeps the image until the end of the day, so repeat visits on the same day are not counted again.
The hosting provider records, as any web server does, the technical data of the requests it receives: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type. These logs serve to keep the service working and secure.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security and proper operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Retention: according to the hosting provider's technical retention periods.
Buying the Pro licence
The sale is handled by Freemius, acting as Merchant of Record: it is the seller towards you, issues the tax document and handles VAT. The data you enter at payment — name, email address, billing details, payment method details — are collected and processed directly by Freemius under its own privacy policy.
The author neither receives nor stores your payment card details. Of your order, only the name and email address are passed on, as they are needed to generate and deliver the licence.
- Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Generating and sending the licence
When the order is complete, an automated service receives your name and email address from Freemius, generates the licence key and sends it to you by email. The service processes the data as they pass through and does not store them.
Your email address is embedded in the licence itself: the application shows it to indicate who the licence belongs to. It stays on your computer and is not transmitted.
The email is sent through a transactional email provider, which keeps the message and the related delivery data for as long as needed to document delivery.
- Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Retention: the email address linked to the purchase is kept for as long as needed to provide support and to reissue the licence if lost, and in any case for the periods required by tax and legal obligations.
Support
If you write to info@monitile.app, your address and the content of the message are processed to answer your request and remain stored in the mailbox.
If you attach an application log file, bear in mind that it may contain the names of open programs and window titles: send it only if you agree, and feel free to remove any lines you would rather not share.
- Legal basis: pre-contractual or contractual measures and legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Requesting a gift licence
If you fill in the gift licence form, your name, email address, number of monitors, dock usage and the optional description arrive by email at info@monitile.app. We use them to generate the Pro licence in your address's name, to send it to you and, after about two weeks, to ask for your opinion of the program. We use them for nothing else and pass them on to no one. Your address appears in the licence you receive, as with purchased ones.
- Legal basis: consent, given by ticking the box in the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw it by writing to us, in which case you will not receive the feedback request.
- Retention: in the mailbox, for as long as needed to reply and to collect feedback.
The Thanks page
On the website's thanks page we publicly thank the people who bought Monitile Pro. Nobody ends up there automatically: you appear only if, after buying, you reply to us with the username you want published. We ask for a username rather than your real name precisely so as not to expose you. The email address is never published, nor the order, nor the date.
- Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given through your reply.
- Removal: write to info@monitile.app from the same address and we remove the username within a few days.
- Retention: for as long as the page exists or until you ask to be removed.
Providers that process data on our behalf

For how long
Data are kept for as long as needed for the purposes described. In particular: purchase data for the period required by tax and accounting obligations; support correspondence for as long as it is useful to follow up on the request; the website's technical logs according to the hosting provider's retention periods.
Your rights
At any time you can request access to your data, their rectification or erasure, the restriction of processing, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest (Arts. 15-22 GDPR).
To exercise them, write to info@monitile.app. You will receive a reply within one month.
If you believe the processing breaches the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, garanteprivacy.it) or with the supervisory authority of the country where you live.
Providing the data required for the purchase is necessary to conclude the contract: without them the licence cannot be delivered.
Changes to this policy
If the services used or the way data are processed change, this page is updated and the date below changed accordingly.
